Navigating the world, one system at a time.

I work at the intersection of energy, climate, AI and policy.

My book, Smarter Than the Storm, explores the AI-Climate Nexus and builds out a roadmap to leverage this nexus to produce win-win outcomes.

I am a Visiting Fellow at the Global School of Sustainability and Data Science Institute at the London School of Economics and am currently pursuing my DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science as the recipient of the Oxford Indira Gandhi Scholarship at Somerville College.
On sabbatical from my role as Associate Vice President at Greenko Group, I previously led an AI-focused initiative for emerging economies at Google and co-built a global air quality management solution.
I served as Adviser to India's G20 Sherpa at the G20 Secretariat, and as Chief of Staff to the CEO of NITI Aayog, India's apex policy planning agency chaired by the Prime Minister, working on decarbonization, AI, digital public infrastructure, India's COP26 strategy and COVID-19 response. I also served as India's representative to the OECD-ITF.
I hold a Bachelors' degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in India, and an MPA in International Development from the London School of Economics. I have been a Climate Fellow at Yale and a Chevening Science and Innovation Fellow at Oxford.

Outside of work, I am a mountaineer and love exploring different countries and cultures. I am also the founder of NGO working on youth empowerment. I love spending time with my 3 lovely dogs - Tiger, Muffin and Jai. Tiger and Jai are rescued Indies, and Muffin is a toy poodle.

Praise for Smarter Than the Storm

“The rapid ascent of artificial intelligence presents the global energy sector with two major developments: a significant new source of electricity demand on the one hand, and a powerful new tool that could optimise energy systems and find innovative solutions to complex climate challenges on the other. This book provides a timely exploration of these complex dynamics, offering a compelling and clear-sighted view of the interplay between AI, energy and sustainability.
”
— Dr. Fatih Birol Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA)
“This is a book of crucial importance from authors who have been at the heart of creating action at the national and international level both in responding to the climate crisis and in building a new story of growth and development, which is sustainable, resilient, and inclusive. Much more attractive than the dirty, destructive models of the past. Innovation for clean and efficient activities and infrastructure will be critical. Investment will be at centre stage. So too, AI. They also identify clearly and strongly international obligations, particularly of the rich countries who followed a polluting model of development. This is a very valuable contribution to international understanding and debate”
— Lord Nicholas Stern, Chair of the Global School of Sustainability; Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, London School of Economics
“Smarter Than the Storm explores how climate change is shaping the future of technology and how artificial intelligence can help address the climate crisis without exacerbating environmental pressures. As the digital and climate transitions become increasingly intertwined, the book offers a timely and valuable reflection on how aligning these transformations can accelerate sustainable development in the Global South, advance the Paris Agreement’s long-term goals, and support the fight against poverty, hunger and inequalities.”
— André Corrêa do Lago, President, COP30
“Smarter Than the Storm is a compelling exploration of the feedback loop between climate change and AI. Amitabh Kant and Siddharth Sinha trace how climate shocks can trigger resource scarcity and conflict—and how AI, despite its own environmental footprint, can become a powerful force for mitigation and resilience. With fresh ideas from sovereign AI to community-positive data centers, this book reframes challenges as opportunities and offers a bold, practical roadmap for sustainable and scalable climate action.”
— Emma Sky, Director, International Leadership Centre, Yale University
“Smarter Than the Storm is a confident, forward-looking exploration of how humanity can meet climate risk with intelligence rather than fear. Clear-eyed about the scale of disruption, the book reframes climate as a threat multiplier and AI as a powerful force multiplier, capable of strengthening resilience, accelerating decarbonisation, and advancing equity. With a strong systems lens, it connects technology, finance, governance, and behaviour into practical pathways for action, particularly for emerging economies. Like Odysseus steering by insight rather than impulse, the authors argue that wisdom, collaboration, and openness matter more than brute force. Accessible yet rigorous, this is a compelling call to act boldly, collectively, and now”
— Malcolm McCulloch, Professor and Group Leader, Power and Energy Group, Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford
